Elizabeth Dole

Bio | Dole was born in North Carolina and attended Duke as well as Oxford University and Harvard University for her master’s degree. She became the commissioner of the federal trade commission in 1973. She was the director of the Office of Public Liaison from 1981-1983 then becoming the 8th United States Secretary of Transportation as well as the 20th United States Secretary of Labor. She was elected a United States Senator from North Carolina in 2003 where she remained incumbent until 2009. During her time as a senator, she also served as chair of the National Republican Senatorial Committee. |
