Donald S. Russell

Bio

Born in Mississippi, Russell attended the University of South Carolina for undergrad as well as law school, also attending law school at the University of Michigan. He eventually became the 21st President of the University of South Carolina. Following, he was elected governor of South Carolina from 1963-1965. In 1965 he was elected a United States Senator from South Carolina. He served here for a short period of time before becoming a judge for the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina and later becoming a judge for the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
